The Big Yabbie is the Moonie icon relating to their annual Moonie Yabbie Races. These freshwater crustaceans, usually found in dams, are put to the test in an iconic race. If you can’t make it out for the races, catch yourself a photo with the Big Yabbie, near the Moonie Visitor Information Centre.
The Moonie Yabbie Races are held in November at the Moonie Sports Club and include a six-race program before the yabbies are put to the ultimate test in the Moonie Cup. A fun-filled day for the whole family, the annual Moonie Yabbie Races offers a full program of events from early afternoon through to late evening. Dress up for the cocktail luncheon or enter the fashions on the field. There is also plenty of entertainment to enjoy after the races.
