Adventure and Outdoors Tours

Binna Burra has partnered with locally operated adventure company ParkTours to get you exploring the great outdoors. Take your pick from archery, guided park tours and full-day hikes, spotlighting night walks, yoga, Qi Gong, kids activities and more! The experienced Guides from ParkTours will be running activities seven days per week.

Note: spaces are limited on some activities, so please be sure to check availability when planning your visit to Binna Burra.

Let our guides take you on an adventure through the natural beauty of Lamington National Park. Some of these walks are rated as the best in Australia by Australian Geographic and offer a range of different distances and attractions. Experience the wonders of the complex geology from volcanic activity, or the cool temperate rainforest pockets full of Antarctic Beech. Remember to keep your eyes aloft as you might just see a koala sitting sleepily in the branches or the chatter of bowerbirds and catbirds as you walk.

A great variety of forest types makes this one of the most interesting walks in Lamington National Park. Along the way, we stop at some spectacular lookouts and spend time walking through rare montane heath. Time allowing, our guides may take you on a detour to view Nagarigoon Falls or Upper Ballanjui Falls. Morning tea included. Bring picnic lunch / 2ltr water / hat / extra snacks / rain jacket. Join your guide on one of the lesser walked trails. Following the Ship Stern track past Koolanbilba and Yangahla Lookouts, we descend via eucalypt and tall palm forests to Nixon Creek. Continuing upstream, we come to the base of Ballanjui Falls, the perfect place for a picnic lunch. We return on the same track. Morning tea included. Explore this wonderful introduction to rainforest typical of this park. Sharpen your animal and plant identification skills along the way with our guides as you wander under strangler figs and other lush trees. Listen for the calls and chatter of bowerbirds and catbirds as you walk. Bring a water bottle/hat. Wear layers and closed in shoes. All ages: Children under 13 must be accompanied

Tullawallal in the Yugambeh language translates to “place of many trees’’. As we spiral up to the gentle summit, we come to a rare pocket of cool temperate rainforest full of Antarctic Beech Nothofagus moorei. This is the northernmost patch of this species in Australia. Your guides will tell you about these ancient trees, one of our remaining links with the forests of Gondwana. Morning tea included. Bring 1ltr water / hat / extra snacks / rain jacket. Let our guides introduce you to Big Foot (a massive Tallowwood tree) before we descend through rainforest and patches of eucalypt forest. From two different lookouts, we take in the views over the Kurraragin Valley, Egg Rock, Ships Stern and the Hinze Dam. Yangahla means ‘resting place – flat rock’ in the local Yugambeh language. We may encounter marsupials like our local pademelons, possums and gliders, alongside micro-bats, owls and maybe even a spider or two! An adventure for the whole family. Discover the characters that built Binna Burra and learn about recent history. This orientation walk will give you a sense of place and help you discover all the facets of Binna Burra. We begin the walk at the recently opened Binna Burra Gallery, see the site of the old lodge and finish at either the Teahouse or Grooms Cottage for a welcome drink and nibbles. Wear layers & comfortable shoes. Meet outside the Barn.

Walk the famous Border Track with this one-way bus transfer service!

One way transfer from Binna Burra Lodge to the Green Mountains section of Lamington National Park (O’Reillys). Regular bus transfers run every Saturday departing at 8am prompt so you walk the 21.4 kilometre track back to Binna Burra at your own pace (self-guided). The Border Track is part of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk and follows the ancient volcanic landscape of the Tweed Volcano, which is still being eroded by rushing streams and plummeting waterfalls, and through lush rainforest with relicts of Gondwana flora and fauna.

This is not a guided activity. Maps are available from Lamington National Park Visitor Centre or Online. Please come prepared for a full day walk with essentials such as food, water, sunscreen and basic first aid.

This is a jointly operated service between Binna Burra Lodge and O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat and may involve a brief toilet stop at Canungra Valley Vineyards where a change of bus may be required. Typical arrival time at Green Mountains is 9.50am.
