Historic Railway
Things To Do Herberton, Atherton Tablelands, Queensland
The Atherton-Herberton Historic Railway offers a special heritage train ride experience – a fully restored 1905 Peckett Steam Locomotive, with its 1913 fully restored wooden passenger carriage, operates from Herberton Railway Station to the Historic Village Herberton and return.
The steam train ride operates on selected weekends (see our online booking system within our website for details) both Saturdays and Sundays, plus most public holidays from 10am to 2pm*.
For more information on ticket prices, operating dates, times, locations and types of rolling stock, go to www.athrail.com and then our booking page. You can also keep up to date via our Facebook page.
We are an all volunteer group and passionate about restoring historic rolling stock and progressing with upgrading our 22km of railway line between Herberton and Atherton. In time we will have operations between the two centres running rail motors over the Herberton range. We also have an extensive workshop and restoration centre and railway museum in Herberton.
