Lake Kurwongbah

Natural Attractions

Now an often-forgotten natural beauty, Lake Kurwongbah served as the beautiful backdrop to the Lakeside International Raceway from 1961 – 2001. Now, the lake is home to a wide variety of fish, bird and native animals – plus it’s quite the popular picnic spot near Brisbane.

There are a few things to keep in mind when visiting and participating in recreational activities at Lake Kurwongbah:

Paddle craft, such as canoes and kayaks, can visit the lake daily.

You must be a member of Waterski Queensland or Lake Kurwongbah Water Ski Zone to use a powered boat on the lake.

Fishing from a boat is prohibited. You may fish from the shoreline and paddle craft with a valid permit from the Queensland Fisheries.
