Longreach School of Distance Education
Things To Do Longreach, Longreach, Queensland
’Imagine a classroom more than twice the size of Victoria, where the playground is as vast as the outback and the partnership between home and school is legendary’.
They invite you to join them in touring one of the largest classrooms in the world! Observe their school in action and learn how education is delivered using technology ‘in the bush’.
The ‘Longreach School of Distance Education’ (formerly known as Longreach School of the Air) is a unique experience and is one of 16 distance education schools in the country; and one of seven in Queensland.
Tours are run twice daily at 9am and 10.30am, Monday to Friday; excluding public holidays and Queensland Christmas School Holidays. Bookings are necessary for large groups only.
They have many quality souvenirs available at the Longreach School of Distance Education. Proceeds from sales are used to provide support and resources that directly benefit students. Examples include support for mini-schools, camps, swim camps, computers, phones and upgrades to facilities such as playground equipment.
Souvenirs are available to purchase upon your visit, or by emailing your order to the school.
