Marlborough Historical Museum

Galleries, Museums and Collections

The Marlborough Historical Museum strives to inspire the generations of our community through careful preservation and passionate celebration of their heritage.

The museum building and a large part of the collection were donated by Mr Martin (Mark) Hennessy to the community of Marlborough. Mark had a desire to preserve the heritage of the district which had been his home since childhood.

Exhibits in the Museum include a Chrysoprase display, women’s work display, machinery display, horse-drawn vehicle display and blacksmith’s shed. There is a craft shop in the museum complex, comprising local craft and souvenirs and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from April to December.

The Museum collects, preserves, researches, interprets, presents and provides historical resource material relating to the natural and human heritage of Marlborough.
