Have you ever wanted to be a Cheesemaker for a day? Awassi Cheesery gives you the experience of not only making the cheese in their bespoke factory, but also to be part of the early morning milking.
The ‘Ultimate Farm and Cheese Experience’ starts with milking their rare Awassi sheep, and yes you can milk sheep. Sheep milk was used to make the first recorded cheese. Once you have met all the girls and the dairy is cleaned up, a shepherds brunch is served and then it is time to hit the cheese factory. You will not only learn how to make cheese, but you will get a greater understanding of how, where and why. You will be making a hard cheese, yoghurt and labneh.
As part of your experience they also open their cheese ripening room up for you to taste some young and aged cheeses. From scrubbing down a pecorino to packing feta, you will learn so much about not only their amazing Awassi sheep milk but also a greater understanding of cheese. Lamb lunch is served in the Orchard, followed by more cheese work in the cheese factory. The day ends with a glass of wine and cheese tasting. They look forward to sharing their beautiful farm with you.
