Exciting news – BIFF 2020 opens on Thursday 1 October at GOMA with the Australian premiere of ‘High Ground’ 2020, a moving film inspired by Australia’s untold history, set in the extraordinary Northern Territory. ‘High Ground’ 2020 is the second feature film from Stephen Maxwell Johnson, director of ‘Yolgnu Boy’ 2001.

The film’s star-studded cast includes Simon Baker, Jacob Junior Nayinggul, Jack Thompson, Aaron Pedersen, Witiyana Marika, Caren Pistorius, Esmerelda Marimowa and Sean Mununggurr, High Ground is the second feature film from Stephen Maxwell Johnson, director of ‘Yolgnu Boy’ 2001.

With over 70 films from 28 countries, we can’t wait to welcome audiences back for BIFF 2020 – 11 exhilarating days of unmissable cinema!

BIFF 2020 will close on 11 October with the world premiere of ‘Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra’ 2020, a compelling and vivid documentary about the evolution of Bangarra Dance Theatre and its dynamic Artistic Director Stephen Page. It’s an insightful portrait of one of Australia’s most dynamic and successful arts organisations and will screen simultaneously across all BIFF venues.
