The Donaldson Collection – A Photo Exhibition of Life in the Gulf Country of Outback Queensland

Exhibition and Shows

12 Oct 2018 to 14 Dec 2018

The Donaldson Collection includes images of the Donaldson family including cattle station manager Willie Donaldson, his wife Helen and their children, at Riversleigh and Rocklands from 1920 to 1927. The exhibition gives an insight into what life was life for people on those remote properties and reminds us why the Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS) was established in Outback Queensland.

Willie Donaldson was one of three men to be killed in a Qantas crash in 1927 in a DH-9c while landing at Tambo.
