Kingfisher Bay Passenger Ferry Service

The Kingfisher Bay Passenger Ferry is the primary service of transportation to Fraser Island, with five services to Kingfisher Bay Resort each day from River Heads and return. This ferry has seating for 220 passengers on two decks with a fully licensed bar, espresso coffee and snack food available. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes, across the Great Sandy Strait.
Guests are advised to arrive at the River Heads Mainland Reception 40 minutes prior to their ferry departure, for check-in. A courtesy shuttle from the Mainland Reception, down to the ferry will leave 10 minutes prior to ferry departure time.
Fraser Island is re-open and we are excited to welcome you to paradise! Kingfisher Bay Resort has re-opened to guests for overnight stays. Operational changes follow new COVID Safe guidelines.

Kingfisher Bay Resort’s Ferry service departs daily from the Hervey Bay mainland terminal to K’gari (Fraser Island) and takes approximately 50 minutes.
The ferry cruises across the Great Sandy Strait to Kingfisher Bay jetty, where guests can often see dolphins and turtles on this cruise. Refreshments and a licenced saloon are available on board.
Schedule:
Departs River Heads (Hervey Bay) at 6.45am, 9:00am, 1.00pm and 3.30pm.
Departs Kingfisher Bay Resort at 7.50am, 10.30am, 2:30pm, 5:00pm.
