Travel north east from Coober Pedy, through two cattle stations, to the Arckaringa Hills and Painted Desert. Admire vivid outback colours, millions of years in the making, and unspoilt beauty. Enjoy a leisurely walk and breathtaking views. Eat lunch before returning to Coober Pedy.

Take the Painted Desert Tour, with all the trimmings, accommodation at Arckaringa Station. The views at sunset and night sky and sunrise are well worth the stay. Lunch is replaced with a campfire dinner and a cooked breakfast.

Arid Areas Tours collects you from your accommodation and takes you through the dog fence and onto Anna Creek Station (largest cattle station in the world). Arrive at William Creek (the smallest town in Australia) to link up with Trevor (Wrights Air) for a flight over Lake Eyre. Return to Coober Pedy after lunch at William Creek pub. Please note price includes transfers only. Flights and meals are at own expense.

Start with the town tour and move on to the beautiful Breakaways, north of Coober Pedy. Take in magnificent scenery. See part of the dingo fence, the longest fence in the world, and the Moon plains where many films have been produced.

Cross the longest man made structure in the world and continue onto the largest cattle station in the world (Anna Creek Station). Pass the lake with the longest place name in Australia (Lake Cadibarrawirracanna, Cadi for short) and arrive at the largest salt lake in Australia (Lake Eyre). Haligan Bay is the only accessible point by road (track) to the western side of Lake Eyre. The track is not easy, but it is the only way to get to the lake other than by air. After visiting the lake, return via William Creek (the smallest town in Australia) and stop at the famous William Creek pub to wash away some dust.

Get out in the dust and tour the Coober Pedy opal fields. See how this elusive gemstone is mined, processed and becomes a finished product. Try your luck by ‘noodling’ for your own precious stone.
