Tina and Michael Kies opened the cellar door in 1985. Tina remembers the opening well, “it really was just a run down little cottage, once used as a Chaff Mill ”

The little cottage was renovated, and opened in January 1985. The day of the opening was hot (40°c) and there was no air–conditioning; to top it all off Tina was pregnant and nearly due with Bronson ” From 1985 the Kies Family Wines philosophy was “not to get bigger just get better”.

The Kies Family focus has always been on “quality not quantity”. This is why they keep their wine production small so as to keep the quality and its distinctive varietal characters. The Monkey Nut Cafe was added on to the Cellar door, opening in 2006! Now skipping forward a few years, 2020 saw the opening of the brand new state of the art winery!
Walking winery and vineyard tours have been added to the whole Kies experience, so you can learn how their wine is made right from the vines to the bottle!
Every time we share Kies Family Wines with our clients, they remain long term fans of the wines and the people. Now its your turn!

Pindarie is located at the gateway to the Barossa Valley, on Gomersal Road on the Western Ridge. A family owned property, with Tony Brooks at the helm after taking over from his grandfather in 1990. Together with Wendy the transformation of Pindarie began. What was once a run-down & over-cleared farm has become a sustainable and regenerated property with Tony and Wendy planting over 12,500 trees since then.

Pindarie is a beautiful property and home to Tony, Wendy and their three children. Opening the Cellar door has allowed them to share what they love. Historic buildings, meticulously restored, wide open spaces, family friendly, sustainable and the very best grapes they can grow turned into wine.

The Grain store offers a genuine paddock to plate experience. Seasonal lunches of local produce whilst surrounded by the 180-degree view of Pindarie’s vineyards.
