Adventure and Outdoors Tours

Canoe Adventures – Riverland offers tailored kayak tours, canoe tours, kayak hire and canoe hire. Picture yourself gliding silently along the glassy surface of a creek, the water mirroring the beauty around you, whistling kites calling overhead, and kangaroos having a drink at the water’s edge. Or perhaps you’d like to explore the wonders of nature, along the banks of the river, in the golden light of a sunrise or sunset guided kayak tour.

Maybe you’d like to indulge yourself in a half or whole day guided tour exploring the maze-like wetlands of Loch Luna, marveling at the bird life, the majesty of the gums and the variety of landscapes, enjoying the serenity of solitude.

Don’t worry if you’ve no kayak experience – their guide will tailor a tour to suit your experience and interests in our stable and comfortable kayaks. The qualified, experienced guide has a wealth of local knowledge, and is happy to make the tour as informative or serene, leisurely or strenuous as you desire.

Self-guided hire is also available, with kayak delivery to your desired location, and pick-up downstream for a one-way trip available. Please inquire about special offers for groups of four or more.

Exploring through the Ajax Achilles Lakes and onto the Murray River, we stop for a cuppa opposite the Bookpurnong Cliffs, enjoying the way the colours of sunset light up the cliffs. After sunset we paddle along Gurra Gurra Creek enjoying the different world of being on the water after dark. We often see possums and kangaroo on this tour. This tour only operates one to four days before a full moon in ideal weather conditions – calm with clear skies. Please inquire.

Loch Luna wetlands are rich in birdlife, with towering stark gums contrasted against nature’s greenery. These maze-like winding waterways are a delight to explore with surprises around each corner – a lake full of swans, eagles nests high in trees, aboriginal canoe trees, red cliffs and seasonally – creeks lined with yellow-flowering water primrose. We will paddle at your pace, stopping to share morning or afternoon tea and a snack.

We love watching the sunrise on the water so much, that we’re happy to meet early enough to be on the water in time to watch the sun peep over the horizon, reflected on the glassy waters of the Gurra Gurra Lakes. From there we’ll paddle along Gurra Gurra Creek to the River and enjoy the sunrise colours on Bookpurnong Cliffs over a break and a cuppa or cold drink.
