It would be easy to drive past the famous vineyards of Coonawarra without noticing one of the region’s most historic monuments.
Tucked away and looking more subtle than spectacular, the old Coonawarra rail siding has a big story to tell.
Its completion in 1898 signalled a new era, allowing the region to flourish as a great wine and farming district.
It has been decades since trains rolled along the abandoned tracks, but now there is a push for the picturesque route to play a new role in the region.
