Hahndorf Walking tours (HWT) are committed to providing personalised escorted tours in Hahndorf.

Since the business commenced in 2011 we have developed a range of tours to suit a wide variety of visitors. Hufendorf, Strassendorf, Strudel and Stroll Walking Tour as well as Hahndorf After Dark Walking Tour with a meal at The Haus Restuarant. Piqued your curiosity! I hope so!

As a local resident visitor we provide the most up to date information as well as correct history and local stories from the people and families of the district.

Hear about the Pioneers Women’s Walking Trail, fachwerk (Germanic) architecture, folklore of the ‘ol pear tree and the pretzel. History about the local Aboriginals as well as first settlers.

Hufendorf Tour – approximately 90 minutes, one kilometre tour along part of the main street and then into areas not open to the general public in the Hufendorf (the original layout of the Village). You will be guided by owner/operator Sharon Pippos. Easy paced, fun and engaging.

Learn about Fachwerk architecture, Pioneer Women’s walking trail and more. A local who knows Hahndorf and all its hidden secrets both now and in the past. This tours is suitable for people with mobility issues and children are welcome. Hahndorf was settled by Prussians that escaped their country because of religious persecution – now that is an interesting story to hear about! Do you know what was found under the Hahndorf Academy? Strassendorf tour – A 90minute walking tour full of local stories and content at the southern end of the main street of Hahndorf.

Guests visit locations not open to the general public.

Hear about the flee of these Prussian people from King Wilheim in 1838 whist in the historic St Paul’s Lutheran Church.
(Hahndorf Walking Tours has exclusive access).

Learn about fachwerk architecture, the history of the pretzel and folklore of these people who lived an exclusive life here in the Adelaide Hills.

What’s under the ol pear tree? Not what you expect.

You’ll be provided with hints and tips on the shopping and eateries in the Village. Minimum 2 people or pay for 2.

A generous discount voucher sheet is available to walkers for use in eateries and artisan shops.
Once you have booked you can request this in advance. It is valid for 6 months.

Group bookings are welcome also.

There is the only food experience in the village and is very popular amongst our visitors.

Yes, gluten free pastry is available but you need to order this at the point of booking.

Hahndorf Inn staff will take you through the process of making your very own Apple Strudel which takes between 15-20mins.
After you have finished, meet your guide outside the Inn, at 11.00am for your 90min tour.

You are taken to locations not available to the general public with numerous photographic opportunities.
Visit a historic Lutheran church to hear about the early settlers of Hahndorf and their flee from Prussia .
We have exclusive access to this church.

You’ll have fachwerk (germanic) architecture explained, the origins of the pretzel, and feel admiration for the faith and entrepreneurial spirit of the pioneering women. Stories about the Village you don’t hear without a guide.

When you return to the Inn you will be served your very own strudel served with vanilla bean ice-cream, cream and a hot beverage or soft drink of your choice.

Enjoy it as an immediate treat, as your dessert after lunch, or come back for afternoon tea.

When the majority of visitors leave and darkness settles on the village, Hahndorf Walking Tours provides an after dark experience not to be missed.

To start off your night tantalise your tastebuds with dinner at 6.00pm in The Haus Restaraunt.
We have chosen a great selection of delicious meals from which to choose on our Hahndorf Walking Tour menu .
Please ensure you have printed out your booking confirmation as proof of payment.

Your guide will meet you at the resturaunt at 7.30pm unless advised otherwise.

Please bring your own torch as their are a limited number of lanterns available.
