Naracoorte Cemetery

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

At the cemetery you can explore the monuments and gravestones that are an important part of Naracoorte’s heritage.

There is no record of the exact date when the current cemetery on Playford Drive opened but the Government Gazette of September 1864 included Naracoorte in a list of cemeteries to which new regulations applied, and the earliest headstone at the current cemetery relates to a death in January 1865. The date has sometimes been confused with the fact that the burial register did not begin until 1878.

Prior to your visit you can search grave details online at our website.

The Naracoorte Creek Walk can be accessed from the Cemetery.
