Pichi Richi Railway runs between Port Augusta and Quorn and offers a unique way to experience living history and the beauty of the Flinders Ranges.
Built in the 1870s, this railway is the last remaining operating portion of the narrow-gauge “Old Ghan line”.
See the ancient Flinders Ranges landscape unfold before you on the full-day Afghan Express return trip from Port Augusta Railway Station to the historic outback town of Quorn, capital of the Flinders Ranges, just 4 hours drive from Adelaide.
Come and enjoy a ride on one of our:
1) Half-day return trips from Quorn to Woolshed Flat on the Pichi Richi Explorer steam train, or Barwell Bull heritage diesel railcar, travelling through deep rock cuttings, past superb stone wall embankments and over spectacular iron bridges.
2) Our exclusive Coffee Pot Heritage Rail Experience which carries just 20 people on a fully catered journey aboard the “Coffee Pot” Steam Motor Coach No.1, an ornate Edwardian treasure, and the only operating engine of its type in the world.
