The David Roche Foundation House Museum

Galleries, Museums and Collections

The David Roche Foundation House Museum in North Adelaide is one of the finest decorative arts collections in a private institution in Australia. With a collection of over 3,500 items it spans two centuries of European design from the early Rococo of France to Faberge in Russia.

The museum complex consists of David Roche’s former heritage home, Fermoy House, and an adjoining museum wing. His exceptional private art collection is presented in an opulent manner reminiscent of how David lived in Fermoy House, whilst the museum houses regularly changing exhibitions.

Acquiring wonderful works of art was one of David’s greatest passion and it took him all over the world to find the best pieces possible. The collection’s great strengths lie in eighteenth and nineteenth century English, French and Russian furniture, metalware, ceramics and clocks of remarkable quality. The collection includes many paintings as well as smaller objects of great rarity.

Tours of Fermoy House can be booked Tuesday to Saturday and the museum wing is open 10AM to 4PM and requires no booking. Closed Sunday, Monday and Public Holidays.

Situated in beautiful North Adelaide, The David Roche Foundation House Museum is easily accessible by bus and parking is available onsite.
