A fun filled event with honourable guests

Songkran Festival aka Water Festival, is a celebration of traditional Thai New Year for the Thai people. This is a festival that attracts Thais and foreigners from all over the world to experience a bathing ritual where the people pour water mixed with Thai fragrance on the senior Buddhist monks and Buddha images. It’s believed to bring good luck longevity, good health, prosperity, a cleansing of bad things, a symbol of fertility, rainfall for the coming year and so on.

Rod Num Phu Yai the special blessing ceremony will be attended by honourable guests, including Dr Richard Harry SC OAM. Richard Harry Harris, is an Australian anaesthetist and cave diver who played a crucial role in the Tham Luang cave rescue.

Adelaide brings it to you to experience this popular Festival. It’s a FREE fun day for everyone to enjoy the festive vibe. It’s packed with entertainment, arts and crafts and of course beautiful, tasty, aromatic Thai street food. Enjoy the traditional Miss Songkran Beauty Contest, Thai Boxing and Thai Cooking demonstrations, traditional Thai dancing and music performances and more, including a Thai Chang Beer Garden.
