Nick Stock will lead an exploration of South Australia’s most outstanding single vineyards though the wines they produce. Traditionally winemakers have dominated the limelight; now it’s time for sites to shine. Expect famous producers, great names and rare wines in this Sunday showcase.

Stephen Pannell will be among winemakers joining the masterclass. His S.C. Pannell label in McLaren Vale was launched in 2004 and followed his time as chief red winemaker at BRL Hardy. Pannell – whose accolades include 2015 Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year – grew up on Margaret River’s renowned Moss Wood estate and went on to work at international estates in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Barolo and Priorat. Along with making wine with widely seen grapes such as grenache, shiraz and cabernet he has embraced the lesser-known varieties of agliancio, fiano, nero d’avola, tempranillo and touriga nacional. Never content to rest on his many laurels, Pannell is fundamental to helping McLaren Vale reach its next stage of glory.
