The Santos Women’s Tour Down Under starts on 10 January 2019 and is the opening professional women’s race on the international cycling calendar.
Stirling hosts its first women’s stage finish, with the peloton making its way from Nairne to the popular hills town.
The Mount Barker region again hosts the start of a stage, with Nairne the site of Stage 3’s departure. The peloton makes its way along an opening loop of Littlehampton, Balhannah and Oakbank before taking a left towards Hahndorf – the site of Stage 1’s start – the second time around. From here, the riders head south along a reversal of the men’s Stage 4 route, with intermediate sprints in Echunga, and a Subaru Queen of the Mountain climb at Red Gum Hill in Greenhills Range.
Then it’s back north into the Adelaide Hills for the finish, which sees the peloton take the traditional loop of Stirling, Heathfield and Aldgate before the deceptive climb to the finish line in the Stirling township.
Subaru Queen of the Mountain: Red Gum Hill, Whites Road/Hack Range Road, Greenhills Range
