‘A happy face, a thumpin’ bass, for a lovin’ race’, the motto of founder, DJ and producer Jazzie B OBE, continues to epitomise Soul II Soul and their feel-good brand of dance and club music. Starting out as part of the vibrant warehouse scene in London in the mid-eighties, the music collective moved on to clubs such as the Africa Centre and The Fridge in Brixton, before international recognition saw them win two Grammy Awards and sell more than ten million albums. Their sound system mentality is still very much at the root of Soul II Soul, keeping their club classics original and fresh, for a continually evolving audience.
