Clarence Mountain Bike Park and Meehan Range

Natural Attractions

The Clarence Mountain Bike Park is located in the Meehan Range. It’s drier than the Wellington Range on the western side of the river, making it suitable for use during winter.

Council manages the area between the Flagstaff Gully Link Road car park, along the northern side of the Tasman Highway, to Belbins Road, which makes up the Clarence Mountain Bike Park. The rest of the range is managed by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service.

The trail network extends throughout the Meehan Range Nature Recreation Area and includes tracks for beginners (green), intermediate (blue) and advanced riders (black).

To reach the top of the Meehan Skyline Trail K’s Choice is an easy (green) climb that starts partway along the XC loop (it’s bi-directional so keep an eye out for descending riders) or the Corkscrew Climb, a technically challenging intermediate track for those looking for a workout.

There’s a choice of descending tracks with the Corkscrew Descent and Dinosaur Descent catering for intermediate riders while the Grassy Valley Descent has technical rock lines for advanced riders.

The park links to other tracks in the Meehan Range. A Skyline Fire Trail extends to the Parks and Wildlife Service managed Meehan Recreation Area in the Redgate section off Belbins Road. There are also purpose-built mountain bike tracks creating a loop between Flagstaff Hill and Caves Hill.
