The Princess Theatre is located at 57 Brisbane St, Launceston. The theatre was built in 1911 with an incredible in-built proscenium arch
In 2016, the City of Launceston refurbished the interior with new flooring and plush seating, with 947 seats on two levels (stalls and dress circle). The Princess has stages a wide range of small and large-scale performances.
The Earl Arts Centre, located at 10 Earl Street, Launceston, directly behind the Princess Theatre, is an intimate, black box theatre, built through the combined efforts of the Launceston community, Local, State and Commonwealth Governments and opened in 1993. With 184 seats, it is suitable for a range of smaller productions.
Theatre North Inc, trading as ‘Theatre North at the Princess’ is an independent, non-profit organisation, established in 1995, and funded by the State Government and the City of Launceston.
