Rainbow Lodge guided flyfishing tours are located at Miena in Tasmania’s central highlands. We specialise in sight fishing and hunting for feeding trout; brown, brook and rainbow – still and running water. The wild trout in Tasmania have the reputation of being amongst the hardest of all to catch, especially without local knowledge, local experience, and without a local guide. We live, eat and breathe guiding in Tasmania, both in the Central Highlands and on the lowland rivers, so we know how to match conditions to locations and of course trout!
Rainbow Lodge also offers a comfortable three bedroom cottage-style private fishing lodge in the hub of the Central Highlands, nestled amongst the character fishing shacks of Miena.

Guided fly fishing trips on Tasmania’s pristine lakes and rivers are our speciality. Whether polaroiding the shallow western lakes, sight casting to mayfly feeders, tailing trout or midging fish, the Rainbow Lodge guides will provide you with an unforgettable and unique experience.
We are fortunate to have assembled what we believe is Australia’s best team of trout fishing guides. They are all world class with international fly fishing experience and acclaim while our head guide, Christopher Bassano is in his twenty third season of guided fly fishing in Tasmania and is the host of the best selling ‘Highland Gold’ DVDs – Volumes 1 and 2.
At the end of your guided day, you can relax in the comfort of Rainbow Lodge and maybe even tie up a few flies at the fly tying bench. At Rainbow Lodge Tasmania we also provide a range of other fly fishing related experiences and services. These include raft trips, Japan trips, Australian travel packages, and seminars run by world renowned anglers such as Martin Droz, Yannick Riviere and of course our very own guides.
