Southern Sea Ventures is a globally renowned sea kayaking company based in Hobart Tasmania. For over 33 years we have specialised in high-quality, guided multi-day sea kayaking tours to remote and iconic destinations around the world.

Southern Sea Ventures was established in 1988 and has grown from running a single tour on Hinchinbrook Island to offering a current total of 25 different trips around the world. Born of the spirit of adventure and exploration, we are constantly seeking new trips and destinations while continuing to consolidate our experience with particular destinations.

Our premium trips in Tasmania include The Three Capes Paddle, The Bruny Island Paddle and The Tasman Peninsula Sea Kayak and Whale Watch Escape which are all four days and three nights in length. We have recently added the Freycinet Sea Kayak and Hike Expedition a 6-day camping expedition on the Freycinet Peninsula.

Tasmania is the perfect place to witness the annual whale migration as Humpback and Southern Right travel up and down the coast between May and November. The far reaching Tasman Peninsula, (just a few kilometres from the continental shelf), is a renowned destination for whale sightings, world class sea kayaking and hiking.

We’ve brought all these elements together for a very special trip! Our days will be filled with the best paddling options, with the possibility of a visit from migrating humpbacks, combined with short but spectacular cliff-top hikes to allow us to watch for whales from up high. This adventure includes a half day whale watching cruise to access outlying islands and inaccessible coastlines.

Our base for three nights is a beachside cosy cottage where we experience peace, privacy and comfort.
