A small guided walking experience on kunanyi / Mt Wellington with specialist interpretation of the natural and cultural values, fully catered with gourmet local produce.

This tour is a series of short leisurely walks, retracing Charles Darwin’s climb up kunanyi / Mt Wellington. We’ll visit towering tree ferns, waterfalls, the mighty Octopus Tree, have a coffee break at the Springs and finishing with epic views from the pinnacle. This tour incorporates in depth stories of Charles Darwin’s discoveries during his time in Hobart.

A spectacular loop walk starting at the Springs, half way up the mountain. Walk through eucalyptus forest, past boulder fields and find yourself at an abandoned ice house ruin. Continue uphill and cross an alpine boulder field before arriving at the pinnacle. Enjoy a well deserved break before descending down the spectacular Zig Zag track alongside the amazing dolerite cliffs of the Organ Pipes. This walk has it all – forest, history, views and awesome geology!
