The Spirit of Tasmania Cycling Tour returns to the roads of scenic Northern Tasmania from 3-7 December 2019.
Thursday, 5 December
Men’s Stage 2/Women’s Stage 1 – Longford to Poatina.
Thursday is an extra exciting day of racing with the commencement of the University of Tasmania Women’s Tour! There’s double the fun for spectators during the last three days of the Tour, as both men’s and women’s races are staged each day.
Much of this course is based on flat terrain through the Northern Midlands’ rich agricultural region and riders have a relatively gentle start to the race – until they hit the base of the infamous Poatina climb! At almost 17km long, riders have nowhere to hide on this tough ascent, challenging even the strongest climbers.
This is a crucial day for all riders. It’s is a decisive stage of the race, as it has the potential for enough time to be gained at the finish for them to be able to hold the lead through to the end of the Tour.
Don’t miss this unique chance to witness Australia’s best cyclists battling it out, while also experiencing this picturesque region of Tasmania!
