Water Source – A family-friendly event held in collaboration with Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, Macquarie Point Development Corporation, TasWater, Angus Stewart, Horticultural and Landscape Supplies (HALS), WaterUps and Nayri Niara @LongHouse.
It includes:
– A forum featuring experts in agriculture, science and Indigenous knowledge will discuss the importance of water on earth, on land and in your garden
– A talk from the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens about xerophytic (highly drought-tolerant) plants for a water-efficient garden
– An all-ages activity with TasWater to make your own garden in a jar to demonstrate the water cycle in action (bring a bag or box to carry it home safely in)
– Food and drinks for purchase – bring your drink bottle for water refills from the TasWater drinking station
Also, gardening guru and former ABC Gardening Australia presenter Angus Stewart will run a workshop to show attendees how to build wicking garden beds for commercial and home use. To register for Angus’ workshop, please email [email protected] as places are limited.
