We can’t think of any better way to unplug than to board a plane to the wild and beautiful Flinders Island. One of the few places on earth where you can enjoy empty stretches of white sand, crystal clear bays perfect for swimming or snorkelling, and skies with no pollution or city lights to obscure the stars.
In a quiet corner of this islet, you’ll find West End Beach House – an oceanfront, architect-designed beauty set on 25-acres of the coastal reserve, with floor-to-ceiling glass on every side connecting you to nature at all times.
Not only does the West End Beach House indulge you with natural wonderments, but every creature comfort is also provided too. Sumptuous beds with a selection of differently sized and weighted pillows, cotton nets draped around the beds in summer and extra blankets are available for winter. A huge, Roman-style sunken stone tub centres the ‘bathhouse’, and there’s a shower in the private courtyard garden – both allow you to take in beach views while you bathe. Farmhouse style kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare delicious Tassie produce – you’ll be plating up fresh oysters, creamy cheeses, local berries and olives with your sundowners.
