Derwent Estate is a family owned and operated wine business at Granton in Tasmania’s south. Just 20 minutes north of Hobart, the largest city in Tasmania, the vineyard is nestled perfectly on north facing slopes which run down to the Derwent River, a perfect aspect for the production of cool climate wine grapes.
Plenty of prevailing westerly winds keep good airflow through the vines. Air circulation is critical in helping to keep the vineyard disease free. Located at 42 degrees south latitude this is genuine cool climate viticulture. Tasmania is rapidly gaining a reputation as Australia’s premier Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sparkling wine producing area.
Derwent Estate’s cellar door is located in one of the two historic 1830’s built houses on the property. You can taste our current range of wines, talk to the people who run the vineyard and even pick up some rare wines not generally available anywhere else.

Our 5 Day/6 Night and 6 Day/7 Night Motorcycle Adventure riding guided tours are all about experiencing Tasmania and combining it with the simple joy of motorcycling. We cater for all skill levels, as long as you’re comfortable riding on gravel roads you will be just fine.
Our Adventure rides combine sensational twisting tarmac, gravel forestry roads, the odd goat track and everything in between. It’s not a full on enduro thrash but rather an exploration of roads and places you simply wouldn’t find by yourself.
We will have you winding through endless corners, up and over hills and mountains in the morning and then cruising wide-open sweepers beside the ocean in the afternoon. And the best part is there is virtually no other traffic.
But simply having great motorcycling roads doesn’t make a memorable tour. We need to combine the riding with the fantastic local foods, wines and beers Tasmania is so famous for. And that’s exactly what we do here at Tasmanian Motorcycle Tours. We guide you along the best bike roads, we make sure you sample the freshest seafood, try the most tender of steaks, sip the finest cool climate wines, and wash the dust out with the best beers Tassie can offer. We promise great riding, great food, great accommodation and lots of laughs!
