The Bunurong Environment Centre (BEC) in Inverloch houses an amazing “shell museum” which features local marine life, a specialty shop for books on environmental issues, gardening, wildlife, science, paleontology as well as local crafts and gift items. Free pamphlets will direct you to the many natural assets in the area along the Bunurong Coast and other amazing features of South Gippsland.
BEC houses a Discovery Centre with powerful displays and engaging activities for kids.
BEC is home to the South Gippsland Conservation Society and Bunurong Coast Education (BCE). BCE runs many activities catering for families, school and community groups throughout the year. Look for their Holiday Programs which run over Christmas and school breaks. Wish to enjoy a guided visit to fossil sites, learn about life on our seashores, local wildlife, the night sky? Find out more at the website.
Visit the world-renowned Dinosaur Dreaming Dig Site and look for your own fossils. The Bunurong and Cape Liptrap Coastal Parks with their unique geological features provide a scenic backdrop for an environment rich in natural vegetation, bird and other animal life. As climate and weather change so do the processes that constantly reshape the landscape. New rock surfaces are exposed and this may allow you to make the next major fossil discovery.
Come and pay the centre a visit.
