Classic Cinemas is the longest continuously operating cinema in Victoria and has a rich and colourful history to match. It was built in 1888, became a cinema in 1911, and was named Classic Cinemas in 1971. Today, the site has undergone many expansions and renovations, while retaining the period architectural touches that make it a beautiful part of history.

The site is owned and operated by Moving Story Entertainment, an independent boutique cinema company operated by the Tamir family. Sister cinemas include Cameo Cinemas in Belgrave, Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn, and Ritz Cinemas in Randwick NSW.
