The Mornington Peninsula is a boot shaped peninsula located 85 minutes southeast of Melbourne. With a number of exciting golf projects recently finished or under development it is the fastest growing golf region in Victoria (and arguably Australia).

The Mornington Peninsula comprises at least ten courses ranked in Australia’s Top 100 golf courses. The natural, sandy soil is ideal for golf, with rugged coastal conditions providing golfing experiences akin to the famous links courses of Ireland and Scotland.

At the centre of this region lie a number of courses in an area known as ‘The Cups’. The National Golf Club is a 54 hole private members’ golf club, providing three distinct golfing challenges (Old Course, Moonah Course and Gunnamatta Course), and through GOLFSelect, privileged access for Interstate and International guests.

Less than five years ago the area known as the Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and Shipwreck Coast was more well known for its surf beaches than its golf courses. Starting 65 minutes southwest of Melbourne this area has grown significantly in golfing terms with the addition of a large number of new courses.

This region is an ideal self drive location where you start at the beginning of the Peninsula and over two to five days can meander your way through a series of new and well established courses—each offering different golfing challenges.

Barwon Heads Golf Club (private member’s course offering limited non member access through GOLFSelect) the nearby 36 hole golf complex at Thirteenth Beach, and Lonsdale Links offer many great challenges.

Heading further down the peninsula lies the sleepy surf coast town of Torquay with two great golf challenges, The Sands – Torquay and the RACV Torquay Golf Clubs. A little further down the road are courses such as Angelsea GC (lots of kangaroos), Warrnambool GC and Port Fairy Golf Club. All varied and well worth playing.

The Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast and Shipwreck Coast is only getting better and this well-kept secret is certainly worth a visit.

In times past, the Yarra Valley was best known for its famous vineyards. But this is changing as more and more golf courses are appearing on the Yarra Valley map.
Courses such as Eastern Golf Club, Gardiners Run, Yearing Meadows have popped up in the region over the last few years and being located only 45 minutes northeast of Melbourne makes this a very attractive region for golf.

A further 20 minutes down the road lies the RACV Country Club at Healesville. This members only golf club (with limited access provided through GOLFSelect) is a fun test of golf. The course has been redesigned by Michael Clayton (Barnbougle Dunes architect).

Over time, this region will become one of the main golfing regions of Victoria and, when combined, with other activities including ballooning, winery tours, fine dining and walking make it the ideal getaway.
