Adventure and Outdoors Tours

Hidden Lanes creates slow travel self guided tours in the Ballarat region.

Join the first Hidden Lanes self guided tour – an inspiring and carefully curated walking experience to discover unique hidden gems of Ballarat’s landscape, history, food and art. The guidebook has links that reveal rich storytelling behind the unique businesses, historical sites and inspiring culture via history podcasts, storytelling videos and beautiful photography.

The Hidden Lanes self guided tour starts from The Ballarat Train Station, or can be started at any of the landmarks/points. The journey focuses on hidden laneways, art galleries/studios, antique and local gift stores, quirky cafes and beautiful scenery. Pick and choose what you want to do.

It takes three – four hours including stopping at our recommended spots. For full slow travel cred, walk it, but if you’re feeling a bit lazy you can easily take your bicycle or a scooter. The route follows footpaths that are disability friendly and you can also just do part of the route if you wish. The main point is to slow down and enjoy the experience.

Runs Wednesday-Saturdays as a self-guided tour between 11:00am-4:00pm.
