Rippon Lea is a grand nineteenth-century mansion set within 14 acres of beautiful Victorian pleasure gardens. Listed on the National Heritage Register, it stands as one of Australia’s finest examples of an original suburban estate.
Join them to uncover captivating stories about the mansion and the remarkable individuals who brought it to life. Their guides will lead you through the mansion, sharing fascinating insights into its history and architecture.
Public guided tours are available twice daily on weekdays at 11am and 2pm, and three times daily on weekends at 11am, 12pm, and 2pm.

Join an insightful social history tour of the Rippon Lea Estate garden, led by one of their knowledgeable National Trust guides.
Spanning nearly 14 acres, Rippon Lea Estate’s garden holds national significance. The estate is home to a variety of beautiful trees, expansive lawns, a picturesque lake, a lookout tower, and an orchard featuring historically significant fruit varieties. Discover the charming archery hut, boat house, and tennis pavilion, which offer glimpses into the leisure activities of Rippon Lea’s past residents. At the heart of the garden, you’ll find a magnificent fernery—the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
During this guided walk, you’ll learn about the estate’s development and hear fascinating stories about how the lives and fortunes of its owners have shaped it.
The garden is meticulously maintained by a Head Gardener, a dedicated team of five gardeners, and a group of passionate volunteers.
Please note: The pathways can be wet and muddy, so please wear suitable shoes.

Bird Spotting Tours take place on Wednesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 1.30pm.
