Rye Foreshore Reserve Playground

Parks and Gardens

This much-loved foreshore based playground was built by the Rye community for the Rye Community and its visitors. Together, more than 700 volunteers worked to create the destination playground opposite the Rye town centre and their story of generous community spirit is told through panels adorning the park.

Designed with all things nautical, children can let their imaginations run wild under the sea – meeting mermaids, friendly fish and cheeky crabs, or even a daring pirate or two as they explore. Little hands can climb lighthouses or steer boats to find new adventures or even a treasure chest. A beautiful feature is a tile mosaic of children’s illustrations.

The fully enclosed park, with a single entrance, makes for a safe play combined with beautiful views of the bay. A soft blue rubber path provides access for prams and wheelchairs without having to navigate tam bark ground coverings.
