Wilsons Promontory is a well known and well visited spectacular part of Victoria. The Northern Circuit section of the Prom though is infrequently visited and is a tough 4 day hike through some the wildest and most unspoiled areas in the State.
The walk starts with a long section on a gravel road, arriving at the pristine 5 Mile Beach, before heading across Miranda Creek to Johnny Souey Cove. From there you will follow the coastline, then hike across from one side of the Northern Prom to the other side on barely defined tracks, before tackling the dreaded Chinaman’s Swamp.
The swamp area has no defined track and is daunting and easy to get waylaid. You will encounter mud and chest deep water whilst attempting to find your way across this vast section of untouched wilderness before arriving at the camp for the last night. More rough track the last day before finishing on a gravel road back to your vehicle.
