Yurunga Homestead

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Yurunga Homestead in Rainbow is a heritage-listed home built by Mr A.G. Cust in 1909. This huge Edwardian style home offers a glimpse into Mallee life during the early pioneering days of the region.

The homestead has a unique underground living room to ease living in the summer heat. The passionate and knowledgeable tour guides will enhance your appreciation of the homestead’s history and the integral part it played in the Rainbow community.

Yurunga holds an impressive collection of local heritage. Visitors will leave with a great appreciation and understanding of Rainbow and the greater Mallee region. A ‘must-see’ stop when exploring the Wimmera Mallee.

Open on Sundays and by appointment.

Don’t miss the fantastic mural at Yurunga painted by local artist Belinda Eckermann which depicts the history of the homestead through building and subsequent owners.
