25 Apr 2021 Annual Event
ANZAC Day Race Day, Sunday 25 April, is a day of celebration and acknowledgement. Each year at Flemington Racecourse they pay tribute to those who’ve served and honour the role that horses have played during times of war. This year marks the 60th year since the VRC first hosted this special race day.
Join VRC for its annual ANZAC Day ceremony with the traditional laying of the wreath, the reading of the ode, the last post and a minute silence.
To complement our ANZAC Day ceremony, we’ve planned some wonderful activities to commemorate this day, including the traditional and historic Two-up game, heritage displays, and plenty of family-friendly yesteryear games and activities. As always, there will be bounteous food and drink options, the ANZAC Day AFL games broadcast on course, plus live music throughout the day.
On the track witness the time-honoured Listed VRC St Leger (2800m) being run for the 162nd time, the Listed ANZAC Day Stakes (1400m) and an open quality handicap (2600m), which along with the VRC St Leger, offers ballot-exemption for the 2021 Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes.
Each year the Victoria Racing Club donates any profits from the ANZAC Day Race Day to the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund.
