The Bendigo Writers Festival provides a forum to meet and talk about books and writing, and, mostly, to enjoy the conviviality of a festival set in View Street, Bendigo. There are interviews and debates about everything; you can be sure you’ll find something to delight, amuse, intrigue and stimulate. And everyone is invited to share in a warm and friendly winter weekend.
This year’s program kicks off on Thursday 9 August at beautiful Fortuna Villa, with a Time Travel dinner featuring historian Tom Griffiths.
And we finish by Burning Bridges with the brilliantly funny Kitty Flanagan, in the Capital Theatre on Sunday 12 August.
In between – good country, good life, writing wrongs, a cooking demonstration with Tony Tan, crime-starter and poetry-starter workshops, a bevy of international guests including Ann Cleeves, Lemn Sissay, Sarah Sentilles, Matt Haig and the extraordinary singer songwriter from Norway via Poland, Bente Kahan.
Celebrate greats such as Henry Reynolds, Helen Caldicott and Alex Miller, and welcome newcomers such as Susi Fox, Drew Rooke and Jay Carmichael.
