Branch Out: Talking Trees

Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

30 Jul 2019

Take a walking tour to learn more about the wonderful trees at Melbourne Gardens. Just like humans, trees are influenced by their hormones. As we move deeper into winter, light levels and temperatures drop, causing the flow of auxin (a plant hormone) to diminish, ethylene to rise, and the leaves of deciduous trees to shed.

Come July, most will have lost their leaves, making visible their intricate branching structures. Wander into Melbourne Gardens with Manager of Arboriculture, Will Jones, to see these beautiful trees and learn about the seasonal changes that take place each year. Warm up after the walk with a botanical inspired tea.
