Close to Home – Kerrie White

Exhibition and Shows

5 Apr 2019 to 29 Apr 2019

Melbourne born, Kerrie White showed a keen interest in art which was well supported in her early years.

Encouraged to enter a state-wide competition in 1995 for The International Year of Tolerance run by Soroptomist International, she was awarded first prize. Her success continued at The Royal Melbourne Show with a Commendation for drawing and third prize for painting in 1996 and where, in 1997, her first painting was sold.

Kerrie has also exhibited at The National Gallery of Victoria’s group exhibition ‘Seize’, the Brunswick Street Gallery-solo exhibition ‘Inside Out’, Dunolly Courthouse ‘Landscapes’, Tiny Towns Arts Trail, and Gallery 127, Avoca. Her artwork is held in many private collections both near and far.

While exploring various mediums and styles over 25 years, Kerrie began painting landscapes following her relocation to Central Victoria. Feeling a great affinity and connection with the environment around her, Kerrie is witness to the changes that occur throughout the seasons, from springtime growth to drought, the colours that vary throughout the day’s light, the aftermath of rain and peeling of bark. Its ever changing and a constant source of inspiration.
