Down South Festival – Port Fairy
Events Port Fairy, Moyne, Victoria
25 Feb 2023 to 26 Feb 2023 Annual Event
Down South returns for its second installment at Port Fairy’s biggest and best Pub – The Star of The West. A local institution with a rich history and perfect outdoor space for live music during summer.
The 2022 debut saw headliners Amyl & The Sniffers pay Port Fairy a visit before jetting overseas, touring the world and winning two Aria Awards. Now etched in the bluestone buildings around town, Down South is back in 2023.
What was an all-Victorian lineup in 2022, Down South ‘23 is thrilled to welcome several interstate artists to the bill, including Tarndanya/Adelaide’s Bad Dreems and C.O.F.F.I.N from Warrane/New South Wales.
Naarm/Melbourne favourites CIVIC, Future Suck, So.Crates, Blowers and Queenie are all making the journey seaside as well; an eclectic mix of punk, hardcore, hip-hop, soul and alt-country.
Port Fairy is known for it’s famous folk-festival, but down south has managed to carve out a little space for the punk rockers, alternative music fans and those alike.
The Bill also celebrates young and upcoming artists from across the Southwest; Koroit, Mortlake, Warrnambool, Port Campell, Timboon and even Geelong.
Down South acknowledges the Gunditjimara people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which this event takes place. They pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
