We have all played with these objects at some time or another in our lives, but how are they actually made?
Opening his studio doors to the public for the first time, award winning designer and leather worker Tom Farrah guides students through every step in this immersive workshop experience culminating in a truly unique and beautiful product.
During this approximately seven hour workshop participants will learn about old and new leather working techniques and tools, leather terminology, leather selection and proper leather care. Using magnificent full grain leather sourced from a local Victorian tannery, participants will select from a range of six colours before hand cutting and assembling their very own Aussie rules, rugby or American football from scratch.
This unique workshop experience is ideal for the fan or the inquisitive minded type, it also makes for a very special gift or team building exercise. No leather working experience is necessary however participants must be at least 15 years of age. Tea, Coffee and some nibbles are provided however it is advised to bring your own lunch.
During the workshop you will be guided through:
hand cutting leather
football construction methods and linings
sewing machine operation
turning the football
$350 per person (participants must be over the age of 15) includes all materials and tools, access to machinery under supervision and light refreshments.
