Museum Talk – From China to the Goldfields to Queenscliff

Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

29 Oct 2021 Once Only Event

‘From China to the Goldfields to Queenscliff’ is the story that will be told by two local historians, author Linda Brumley and researcher Clare Ribaux. It tells how Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale became the destination of many Chinese who came to Australia to dig for gold in the mid-19th Century, but for various reasons were unable to return to their homeland. As a result, many chose to become market gardeners and fishermen at Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale, settling at Fisherman’s Flat and The Springs.

This well-researched story will be told by two local historians who became intrigued in their own separate ways, but eventually collaborating to put a fascinating and illustrated story together.
