Summer of Play

Summer of Play is Melbourne Museum’s long-awaited celebration of summer, featuring an illuminated playscape for ALL ages, after-hours access to interactive exhibitions, and late-night events.

Drop into the Museum Plaza playscape each day for board games, seesaws, swings and mouth-watering 196 Below ice cream. The fun continues every Friday and Saturday night in January with DJs, cocktails, twilight tours of the Royal Exhibition Building Dome Promenade, after-hours access to Tyama: a multisensory experience of nature and illuminated swings and seesaws to set your heart soaring.

Don’t miss workshops, Lunar New Year celebrations, a special Nocturnal x Midsumma collaboration, and screenings of the exciting new movie Avatar: The Way of Water at IMAX.
