The Secret Life of Bees

Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

6 Apr 2019

Where would we be without the humble honeybee? In this exclusive open hive experience, Amanda Collins and Scott Denno of Backyard Beekeeping, will guide you through and intimate exploration of a live honeybee hive.

See, hear and smell the aromas of the hive at work as Amanda and Scott talk you through the fascinating machinations of the colony – the captivating world of the most industrious insect in the world, the European Honeybee. And of course, we’ll taste some of the sweet stuff too.

Please wear long trousers, long sleeved and legged clothing and closed toe shoes. Protective equipment (beekeeping jacket or suit, veil and gloves) will be provided on the day. Participants will have the opportunity to taste raw honey directly from Backyard Beekeeping apiary hives, followed by honey tasting of single origin Eucalypt honeys from the region.
