4 May 2018 to 28 May 2018
Two Trees and Others Exhibition by Allex Hall will be on display during May 2018.
In the words of Allex Hall: “I have painted /drawn myself twice – at different times in different styles – but I’m still finding out about myself. Having seen a mural based on Hokusai’s woodcut of the Great Wave off Kanagowa I wanted one for myself. But lacking the ‘wall’, I joined together two large canvases and with a Net sourced image I was able to paint the wave. This was the inspiration that started my journey into painting in 2009. My work is both pictorial and colourful – sometimes it represents exactly the image I see and sometimes it’s more abstract. To date I have used acrylic, watercolour, pencil, charcoal and pastel with my images painted on paper, milk carton cardboard, canvas, board and corrugated iron. Painting landscape images are my favourite at the moment, particularly the beauty of Central Victoria. I see potential paintings everywhere I look, the play of light and the lines and shapes in the landscapes. Exhibiting in many of the local art shows keep me busy all year. It’s all great fun mixed with hard work.”
