Victoria Police Join Forces with Special Olympics Australia in torch run through Southbank to celebrate International Day of People with a Disability.

This Friday 1 December marks the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which will see approximately 100 Victorian Police officers, partners, Special Olympics Australia athletes join forces to run the Special Olympics Australia torch through Southbank to light the cauldron – a fantastic celebration of diversity and inclusion in our city.

The run coincides with International Day of People with a Disability – a United Nations sanctioned day to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with a disability occurring this Sunday 3 December – and will officially kick off the Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Festival, a unique community event which will run from 10:00am – 3:00pm this Friday at Crown Riverwalk.

The run will be capped off with a Special Olympics Australia athlete joining Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Wendy Steendam and Law Enforcement Torch Run President Nicole Williams in lighting the Special Olympics cauldron.
