Thomas Anthony (Tony) Cafarella was born in Collingwood Victoria, then served in the R.A.A.F during World War II, Tony began painting in 1960 starting out with oils then moving to acrylics years later. A self-taught artist and an established photographer, he used his camera to capture the subject matter for his paintings over many years which inspired his realist style of painting. Tony was a member of the Realist Artists Guild.
Specializing in the Australian outback with sales of his artwork in 14 countries, he also had exhibitions in Daylesford Vic, Hahndorf S.A, Derby W.A, Alice Spring N.T, Ararat Vic, Broome W.A, Onslow W.A and the Old Ghan Gallery Hawker S.A.
In later years his style had changed due to arthritis in his hands, but which enabled him to continue pursuing his passion for painting for the many years to come. This exhibition is a cross section of his works throughout the years, paintings highlighting the beautiful and yet not so forgiving corners of this wide country.
The family of the late Thomas Anthony (Tony) Cafarella hope you enjoy the beautiful and timeless Visions of Australia he has captured, as we have.
